READINGS
To stimulate your thinking about issues in conservation breeding, we have compiled a short list of articles that offer a variety of perspectives. These draw not just on equine genetics research, but on work with canines, where the short generations and multiple offspring per litter have accentuated concerns within closed breeding populations. Inclusion of articles on this list does not imply agreement with or endorsement by the Institute with the various authors’ views. Rather, we present these because of the broad and, in same cases, contradictory viewpoints that lead one to reconsider one’s own beliefs.
We appreciate that the authors have allowed us to present these materials provided in PDF format. In all cases (both PDFs and the links to other sites), the authors retain copyright and all other reproduction, copying, and re-publication rights. Please respect those rights.
We welcome your suggestion for other articles to add to this list. Please contact with any suggestions, giving full citation and contact information for the author(s).
