I think the biggest mistake in recent history has been marketing these horses as investment. So many wonderful horses were lost during the 80's due to bad care given by folks who purchased them for investment purposes and then discovered that making money with horses is not an easy thing. They flipped from asset to liability in the blink of an eye, and the poor horses were the ones to suffer.
